It’s not slut-shaming so much as it’s female-shaming, and it reinforces the age-old cultural narrative that women’s bodies aren’t their own. Whilst I can understand the anger shown by the above person, but perhaps it’s the fact that men on the whole aren’t going to view this message as “Oh Look at her, i’m going to treat the next woman as a woman and not as an object.” I’m not saying that this is how it should be. But perhaps this is how advertisers saw that people or rather, men, viewed women and decided to get that to their point of view. It could also be due to the fact that adding the woman’s face to the picture could take away from the severity of the occasion, and make others not realise just how bad HIV/Aids is.
